End of Vacation

September 5, 2006 at 14:37

That was it for relaxing. A new semester has begun. The vacation has been great, and a lot has happened. First, my two sons has gotten older, and I have had the pleasure of watching and helping them grow every day. That is fun and rewarding. Too bad I can’t do that as much when I’m on the university most days of the week.

Second I finished the two major projects I had planned for the vacation. My article about the Metroid series has been published at Play:Right a few weeks ago. In Danish only. A translation would be nice, cause it’s a great article that I would like more people to read, but I don’t have the time for that.

The other major project was a contribution to a game design competition. We finished the game, and I think it turned out quite nice and unique. It has been quite frustrating to write almost 6000 lines of ActionScript, but seeing it together with all the written dialog, the nice graphics and great music it has been worth it - mostly. Now we just wait for the judges to decide who will win.

My next project is this semesters university project, which is still undecided. I know I’m creating a 3d game together with four other game programmers though, and that is quite exciting already. Being back at the computer science department is great.
